First Visit

When should my child have their first visit?

Although it is never too late to choose a smile you love, The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that a child has his/her first orthodontic examination by the time he/she is 7-years-old. At this age a child’s jaw is still growing and forming, with x-ray’s and an examination Dr. Chan can recognize any potential orthodontic problems and recommend if any treatment is beneficial. If at that time Dr. Chan decides your child isn’t ready for orthodontic treatment she will continue to monitor his/her growth.

Consultation

This appointment will be used to complete an examination to determine what, if any orthodontic needs you may have. You should expect this appointment to be about a half hour. Dr. Chan along with one of her staff members will complete a thorough exam and possibly photos and x-rays. Once the examination is complete Dr. Chan will explain to you her findings, and recommend treatment when she sees fit. From there one of our friendly staff will explain to you more in depth the steps that will be taken when you decide to go forward with treatment, along with the fees, financing options and insurance information.
